Nina Meier-Bradlin was born in Detroit, Michigan. She studied acting at Cranbrook Theatre School and in the drama department at the University of Michigan, where she played major roles on all three stages and directed the world premiere of a musical (Contemporary Furnishings by Kipp Koenig) featuring two future Tony-Award nominees. Nina has lived in Basel since 1990. She speaks German and Swiss German fluently.
She is currently writing a one-woman show in collaboration with Rosetta Lopardo and Krista Jaquet and is planning a recording session with pianist Eric Gilson and string bass player Michael Pfeuti.In 2008/2009, Nina had the opportunity to bring Tennessee Williams’ tragic heroine, Blanche DuBois to life in A Streetcar Named Desire at the Förnbacher Theater in Basel, playing to sold-out houses and again in a guest appearance at the Komediateatteri Arena in Helsinki, Finland, where she met some of her Finnish relatives. Nina just finished shooting her first short film. You can hear Nina’s voice on the MS Lällekönig, where the narrated tour she recorded with Roger Thiriet in 2007 can be heard every afternoon in Basel on the Rhine.
